Overview

Bluesphere is building a preventative healthcare system designed to help people stay healthier for longer by identifying risk early and supporting action before disease takes hold.

As age-related conditions rise and healthcare systems strain under reactive care models, Bluesphere brings together medical expertise, continuous data, and intelligent systems to make health increasingly personal, predictive, and actionable.

My role was to help take Bluesphere from its early foundations to a launch-ready, evolving product, shaping the experience for both users and clinicians. Working closely with engineers and health experts, I led key aspects of the product's ongoing development, designed new features and workflows, and established systems needed to scale confidently while maintaining trust, clarity, and clinical credibility.

How might we enable people and clinicians to act on early health signals in ways that are trusted, personalised, and grounded in real medical care—before disease takes hold?

Challenge to solve

As the product approached launch and continued to evolve, I focused on multiple areas of product design, delivery, and validation—supporting both immediate launch needs and longer-term product growth:

  • Leading the product design and user experience, working closely with engineers across multiple sprints
  • Shaping and evolving core experiences across the mobile app, clinician web application, and brand website
  • Defining a product readiness testing approach, combining qual and quant methods to validate the value proposition
  • Designing current- and future-state clinician workflows to support review, decision-making, and patient engagement
  • Establishing and evolving the design system and component library to support consistency, quality, and scale
  • Supporting launch readiness across key product and brand touchpoints, including core communications
Highlight: Workout Flow (Mobile App)

The Bluesphere app acts as a digital wellbeing coach for users, combining wearable data, biomarker insights, and an evolving knowledge base to support long-term health. After completing an initial questionnaire, users receive a health score and personalised plan designed to guide behaviour and improve health outcomes over time.

I led the design of a guided workout flow that translated this personalised approach into a structured, supportive exercise experience. The initial iteration focused on improving continuity between exercises, establishing clear stages within a workout, and introducing group logic that adapts movement blocks to the user’s progress and context. This laid the groundwork for future enhancements, including greater user-led customisation and motivational prompts.

The work involved close collaboration with engineering to ensure routines could be generated dynamically based on the underlying intelligence system, while also defining a clear direction for how the workout experience could evolve in subsequent iterations.

Highlight: The Clinician Dashboard (Web App)

Facilitating the patient-doctor relationship is central to Bluesphere’s preventative care model. Users who choose to undergo blood testing to understand their health across key biomarkers are offered a consultation with a Bluesphere-approved doctor, making the clinician experience a critical part of the overall product ecosystem.

In its initial iteration, the clinician dashboard enables doctors to manage patients, review lab results, and tailor individual health plans based on medical expertise and test outcomes. The future state of the dashboard introduces an intelligence layer that surfaces relevant insights and  recommendations based on analytics and predictive models to identify risks earlier and improve prevention.

I led the design of the clinician dashboard across both its current and future states, working closely with the founders and engineering to define workflows, information hierarchy, and decision-support patterns. The future state concepts are not included in this case study, as they form part of Bluesphere’s longer-term product strategy.

This six-month engagement provided the opportunity to collaborate with a world-class team comprised of engineers, technology experts, clinicians, and visionary founders. Together, we explored how intelligent systems could be applied responsibly across the product—from early concept development to content generation—reducing time spent on low-value work and sharpening product focus.

Following the establishment of a combined qualitative and quantitative research approach, the engagement concluded with a structured design and code freeze, enabling the application to be tested with clinicians and prospective users, and setting a clear foundation for confident launch and continued evolution.
